Christian thrashers Betrayal were formed in the waning days of the Bay Area's once-thriving speed metal scene (1989, to be exact) by vocalist Chris Ackerman, guitarists Marcus L. Colon and Matt Maners, bassist Jeff Lain, and drummer Brian Meuse. Making their debut with 1991's Renaissance by Death L.P., the band achieved minimal market penetration with the backing of tiny independent label, Wonderland Records; but they stuck with it long enough to record a second album named Passing in 1993, which introduced new axe-man Bob McCue and drummer Jeff Mason.
